Good morning Year 2,
We hope you are all well on what is predicted to be a cloudy day.
Please let us know how you get on with your learning, as we miss you all and look forward to seeing your wonderful work each day. The amount of effort you are putting into your learning at the start of this final term has been incredibly encouraging.

Reading
Please spend 10 minutes reading and respond to the appropriate question below.
Fiction text - which part of the story best describes the setting?
Non-fiction text - why do we need a glossary?
The Elves and the Shoemaker
Turn to pages 15-16, which require you to help Storm who wants to make an umbrella. Please help the elf by testing materials to identify
whether they are both strong and waterproof. You will need: a kitchen roll, plastic bag, foil, paper bag and a material of your choice. Afterwards we would like you to write instructions for the elves to follow. The link for this pack is below.
Rotation
This week is our final week learning about shapes using the series of lessons created by Oak National Academy. Each lesson contains quizzes and an online teaching lesson.
Choose 'Lesson 14: To follow a route around a map'.

Art
In class we have been focusing on how to create different shades, through using the tools of both pencils and paints. Today we would like you to use a pencil to draw a portrait of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Use your pencil to colour in your picture, remember the harder you press the darker the shade is. Below are some different pictures of him to support your drawing of him.
Star of the Day
Our Star of the Day is Josiah. He has worked incredibly hard today and we are particularly impressed with his response to the conclusion of Storm's umbrella investigation.
Daily Reflection
Good evening Year 2, thank you for creating a record for the number of emails we have received from you all today. It has kept me extremely busy but in a really good way, as we love seeing all of your work. The highlight of the day has been your drawings of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, you are such a gifted group of artists! Please take time to look below at all of the amazing drawings our class has created.
