Thursday 16th July - Home Learning


Good morning Year 2,
Arrangements for the time your Children spend with each of you ...
We have just two days left to go and then it will be summer chilling here we come. I wonder what your plans are for the summer? A holiday at home or going away? Beaches and ice cream or adventurous walks? Whatever you are doing make sure you have fun creating happy memories with your family.

Reading
Read a text of your choice for 10 minutes. 


Phonics
Our phonics this week is split into three sections.
1. Write out the alphabet both lowercase and in capitals.
2. Play Time Challenge Phase 5 using Phonics Play.
3. Think of some words that have the 'ay' sound in. After write questions that contain these words, remember to finish each one with a question mark. For example:
Will you come and play with me in Barring Park?

The Quangle Wangle's Hat
Today we would like you to turn to page 13-15, which guide you through a Description Challenge to draw the animals that are described in an additional verse of Quangle Wangle. Then write descriptions for both of the animals.

Mental Maths Recall
1. Count up to 100 and then back down in 10s. Can you complete this in less than 2 minutes?
2. Practice counting in 5s. For example 1 x 5 = 5, 2 x 5 = 10 . . .
3. Answer subtraction number sentences from either challenge 1 or challenge 2, remember to count back by drawing jumps on a line.

Our phonics this week is split into three sections.
1. Write out the alphabet both lowercase and in capitals.
2. Play Buried Treasure Phase 5 using Phonics.
3. Play the tricky words roll and read challenge. Click on the link below to print two copies of the resource. Find someone to play with you, each of you will need the sheet and a dice. Take it in turns to roll the dice and say the first word next to the matching number on the dice. The first person to complete a whole row wins.

We have reached our final week of learning together. I expect lots of you are looking forward to a well deserved rest, at the same time as feeling slightly sad about seeing our time as a class coming to an end. Thankfully those of you who are returning this week have four fun, creative days with either Mrs Triggs or I to look forward to. Daily Reflection
Good afternoon, we have spent the day busily preparing for tomorrow's bubble groups. It has been such a good day to be back together with Mrs Gray and Mrs Triggs. As you can see from the photos, each of you who are coming back tomorrow have your own table and carpet mat which will be your space for the week. Please remember to bring a drink bottle which will go home with you each day, as well as a coat which will go on the back of your chair and a packed lunch if you are not having a school meal. Thanks to all of you who have emailed us today, I will go through all of these shortly and add photos to our blog.
